Frequently Asked Questions
Absolutely. Many members start with little or no boxing experience. Our Beginner classes teach the fundamentals—stance, footwork, punches, defense and combinations—in a supportive environment before progressing into regular classes.
No. You don’t need to get in shape before you start boxing. Training can be adapted to your current fitness level while progressively building strength, conditioning, coordination and confidence.
That’s completely normal, especially for first-time boxers. Victory is designed to make authentic boxing accessible and welcoming, with coaches who understand that everyone starts somewhere.
We teach real boxing fundamentals—including stance, footwork, punching technique, defense and combinations—alongside functional conditioning. You can train like a boxer without having to become a fighter. In addition to everyday working professionals, we are an active gym with amateur and professional boxers. We are also the home club of the FDNY boxing team.
You don’t need to live at the gym. For many busy New Yorkers, starting with two consistent sessions per week is realistic. With training options throughout the day, you can build boxing into your schedule before work, during the day or in the evening.
Wear comfortable workout clothes and athletic shoes and come ready to move. Gloves are provided for your first lesson, and you can purchase your own gloves at the gym. If you’re new, start with a Beginner class; private and trial lessons are also available for a more individualized introduction.
Not at all. You don’t need an athletic or boxing background to get started. Our coaches meet you where you are and help you develop your skills and fitness at your own pace.
Sparring is completely optional. You can develop boxing technique, conditioning, movement, defensive awareness and confidence without getting hit. For those interested, supervised sparring is available.
